Aleph One for MAC
Free, open-source game engine that runs Bungie's Marathon trilogy and dozens of community-made scenarios on modern Macs, with online play.
Aleph One Overview
Aleph One is the free, open-source continuation of Bungie's Marathon 2 and Marathon Infinity game engines. It plays Marathon, Marathon 2: Durandal and Marathon Infinity natively, and it also powers dozens of community-made games, from new levels to total conversions with their own weapons, monsters, music and storylines set inside and outside the Marathon universe. The engine on its own is not a game: to play, you need a set of game data files, called a scenario, and you copy the Aleph One app into that scenario's folder before launching it.
The project also offers each Marathon game as a ready-to-run app, but this download is the engine itself, the one to get for community scenarios such as Trojan, Marathon: EVIL, Eternal, Rubicon X, Phoenix or Apotheosis X. Aleph One is available under the GPL-3.0 licence, and Bungie's trademarks are used with permission. Version 1.11.1 is a security and bug fix release, and the project asks everyone to update, especially anyone who plays online. Multiplayer is peer-to-peer for up to 8 players over a LAN or the Internet, with a global matchmaking lobby. The project does not state a minimum macOS version on its download page.
